G.C.L.A.S. wanted to leave memorials of his soul in Xenophon's words. He didn't allow a statue of himself to be made. This was very Spartan to not glorify yourself as an individual, but sort of let your deeds speak for themselves. In this way he conformed in his own character to the values that he represented.
