The Framing Effect Within the Mating Domain

Michael Wolraich: I actually use the evolutionary roots of the negativity bias in a paper that I published a few years ago with one of my former doctoral students. And we theorize, and that's exactly what we found, that within the mating domain, women would be more likely to succumb to the framing effect because of the negatively framed information. It looms larger in their mind. But yet negative information looms much louder in the mind of women when they are navigating mating decisions precisely because the costs and benefits of making a poor choice are much more costly to women. That was kind of a, a terrible version of what Kahneman and Versky were studying.
