The ruler mediates with the sacred and that is fundamentally seen as an aspect of justifies his leadership role. He's a god. Yes. Helen, they had gold and silver which led to their undoing. Did the Inca themselves think that was tremendously valuable? Yes, but not in the same way as the Spaniards. For the Spanish gold and silver have monetary value as a currency. For the Incas they have value as a status symbol. And indeed we know that they valued highly decorative articles too. Of course unfortunately after the conquest the Spanish melted a lot of these items down so we don’t have half as many as we would like. But some still survive in museums
