The Importance of Comparative History in the Old Testament

In the New Testament, we have a lot of comparative material. And even though they don't tell us about the specifics concerning Jesus, what we find in the gospels about Jesus makes sense within the world of First Century Judaism. In so far as we do, the world of ancient hit-ite treaties or whatever it is, then yeah, there's a lot of stuff which, yes, makes considerable sense.
