Introduction
In the 8th century BC, most Greek cities were governed by a council of nobles. Instead of having a king, the king's powers would be divided between multiple offices. The later Greeks called this kind of government an oligarchy - rule by the few. This week we will discuss the governmental apparatuses that developed alongside this political construct.
