Moses is using that to sort of evoke. It's almost as though Jacob has propitiated Esau, the way that the Israelites are going to propitiate the offended and righteously indignant Yahweh. And then it seems that it works, but Esau wants to continue with the relationship and Jacob doesn't want to have anything to do with it. So I think we see a couple of things. Number one, Jacob isn't taker anymore. He's a giver.
