The Importance of 1.5 Degrees Celsius
A new report from the World Meteorological Organisation says that between now and 2027 the earth may be 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than pre-industrial times. They put the odds at 66% chance that it will happen. Seven years ago in Paris countries agreed to try to limit temperature rises to 1.5°C because scientists say beyond that there will be catastrophic consequences we just can't mitigate against. But this is expected to be a temporary breach of that 1.5 degree threshold. There are two things going on here: We're still burning fossil fuels which is helping drive climate change you know our emissions aren't coming down. Number two is that they are expecting an El Nino weather
