The Role of Multidisciplinary Teams in Endocarditis
I think for me, probably the biggest thing that I like to emphasize is the role that these multidisciplinary teams can have in actually decreasing mortality. That's a great point about the inner caustfecalis and endocarditis patients. And our group at Michigan, we found that our in-hospital mortality went from 29% to 7%. This was 10 years after a group in France showed a 10% decrease in their one year mortality after starting a multidisciplinary team. There have been some other European centers that have demonstrated that mortality benefit.
