Brick: A Confessional Singer-Songwriter
In general, I never really saw myself mentioned that often as a songwriter first. Usually, it was about the showmanship or my piano playing and the fact that we didn't have a guitar. Then you see someone like Ryan Adams who is always talking about their songwriting. No matter what kind of song I wrote, that wasn't front and center of what people talked about. That does make a difference in perception.
