The Importance of QE in Fiscal Dominance

Since 1917, the Fed has been buying government bonds as the main thing on its balance sheet. Once you're in a fiscal dominant situation, QE or other kinds of monetary policy initiatives become irrelevant. The way the Fed's actions funds the deficits is by the fact that the Fed doesn't have to pay interest on all of its liabilities. And that's why I'm claiming that the Fed will end up deciding to broaden that base of assets on which it doesn't pay interest.
