Is the Self Really Responsible for Action?
The Western system of law and responsibility is predicated in a very naive view of self. It seems to me that responsibility for action starts to fray a bit if the self is that protein. We can't make effective decisions without the contribution of so-called irrational processes like emotion. But secondly, there's this whole idea of what we do voluntarily, what we do of our own in quotes free will. This is a huge rabbit hole because we've inherited this idea that everything we do is an objective reality.
