Are the Stakes Used to Date the Nazca Lines?
In later Peruvian spiritual beliefs, some animals are thought to provide protection or power to a certain family. The string and wraps used would then be infused with the power of the animal design that family chose as its totem or symbol. There were wooden stakes or posts found at the end of some of the geoglyph lines. Dr. Eric Klein says findings indicate a date range from around 525 current era plus or minus about 80 years.
