Doctor skinner talks about the psychological model of magic versus the spirit based model. From ancient times right through to probably the late 19 hundreds, there was no doubt that magic was done by constraining spirits or demons to do the things ye needed done. This twentieth century developed a lot of theories that you could actually do it with concentration, visualization, or by will. One of the guys responsible for this was sir w w Atkins who wrote a number of books telling you how to attract wealth and women simply by visualizing it.
