Hadrian's Return to Rome
Hadrian spent the winter in greece laying out plans to transform athens from backwater into refurbish cultural capital. Greeks were proud of their historical independence, but a bit annoyed at extent to which emperor was planning to put his own stamp on ancient city. By one 25 hadrian had been out of italy for four years. And passing through sicily to inspect the bread basket of the empire,. The emperor finally made his triumphant return to the capital. Though he had no love for the city itself, his return meant that he could tour all the new construction he had ordered before he left.
