Why Bare Root Is Better Than Potted Apple Trees

Bare root is definitely the way to go for most fruit trees and berry plants. It's a more sustainable option because it doesn't involve plastic pots or potting soil. A bare root apple tree weighs maybe a couple pounds at most; a potted apple tree is going to weigh 15, 20 pounds. So figs are an exception. You know, pawpaws are another exception. They don't handle field growing and digging up by machinery well. The roots are very delicate.
