The Debt Ceiling and the D-Word

The threat of default is always kind of a red herring because Republicans, especially now, believe that there's some political value in just obstructing anything that Democrats want to do. So they opt for blocking any raising of the debt ceiling as a kind of nuclear option. There's not going to be a default, but it's all political theater in front of it. And it's just particularly bad.
