The North Korean Elite Is Not Really Comfortable With the Status Quo
North Korea doesn't really want to change a great deal that the North Korean elite is actually pretty comfortable with the status quo. South Koreans, again, I think they just sort of accustom themselves to it. And so you're sort of colliding with decades and decades of entrenched division where major groups inside society have configured themselves around this. This is why in my writing, we should not be shooting for a big bang deal between the two Koreas. It's just too difficult.
