The Differences Between Eliza and Machine Learning
An early natural language processing computer program named Eliza was first written back in the 1960s at MIT by Joseph and Beitzenbaum. There are similarities, but also some differences regarding the two paradigms. The main similarity is based on the fact that the human behind the screen is naive enough to believe that the machine understands him or her. But today, we are talking about the database of real-world knowledge. And that training set becomes a basis for generating responses.
