Billy Preston grew up in Los Angeles but moved to Lawrence, Kansas as a freshman. The sleepy college town of Lawrence actually felt like a perfect match for Billy. On that campus, surrounded by Kansas corn and soybean fields, he was a celebrity. "I'm just, you know, like a flat line. I'm never too high, I's never too low," says the star forward.
