What Are the Different Types of Glaciers?
Glaciers don't form everywhere where it's cold, only when there's sufficient snowfall. Most alpine glaciers originate from a high mountain snowfield near the peaks of the mountains. At lower altitudes, what's called the oblation zone, the rate of melting and tion is faster than the rate of accumulation in those zones. So at that point, the snow begins to melt faster than it's accumulating. And so that will be the point where the glacier terminates. That's caled the terminal part of glacier.
