New York's Kendra's Law Is a Symbol of Hope for the Untreated Mentally Ill
Amanda Postenik: New York has innovated around both sides of the problem. In late 1990s around 1998 or 99 a man named Andrew Goldstein pushed a woman named Kendra Webdale in front of a subway train killing her. She says after Miss Webdale's death, state legislature passed a first of its kind law to support assisted outpatient treatment for people with psychiatric illnesses.Postenik: Kendra's law is a symbol of renewed hope for all people affected by mental illness.
