The 4% Rule and How to Handle It
The 4% rule is a useful thing, but how literally you take it really should depend on how close you are to retirement. A lot of people in the United States have parents that are nonzero wealth and they're eventually going to get some kind of inheritance. It allows you to have more of a safety margin later in life, even if it's 20 years from now.
