"I used to think this was just garden variety in competence, that they were doing their best, but they just weren't very good," he says. "Over the years, I've come to think that most people are capable of doing better, but for whatever reason, they don't." He believes incompetence is a form of dishonesty and steals time from coworkers who have to clean up his messes.
