The Olympic Marathon in St. Louis, MO

In 1904, the organizers of a marathon in St. Louis decided to test whether purposeful dehydration improves athleticism. The race devolves into absolute mayhem as multiple athletes drop out because they can't see, breathe or they're vomiting dirt. Organizers have only set out two water stations along the marathon route.
