Credit Suisse: A Systemic Bank?

Credit Suisse is definitely a globally systemic bank. All regulators recognize that and it carries higher capital charges because of that. What makes a bank systemic is if it gets into trouble or falls over, then it can default on a lot of obligations or positions it has with lots of other banks. That sends a series of dominoes cascading through the system of trade failures, collateral losses and so on. And before you know it, you've just got this kind of rolling storm going through the financial system.
