Crowd funding can be useful for two specific points in a start ups life. You could use crowd oning at the very early stage, when you have an idea on the back of a napkin and maybe a render or two. It's not trying to build like, a multi million dollar campaign with overproduced vidios. This is for hardware engineers who just want to prove that some people want their product.
