The Importance of Relationships

Rousseau said in a just society, no man should be rich enough to buy another. So she was pleased that society had become more equal even though she herself had become worse off. That's what can happen when sustained, unjust inequalities corrode a sense of social unity and shared interest among different people in society. All these reasons for objecting to inequality are all to do with relationships between one person in society and another.
