The God of Israel and the Divine Council
The God of Israel goes into another nation and does battle against the patron deity of that nation. At least in second Kings three 27, Adonai loses that battle. This reflects an ancient Southwest Asian notion that the different empires and territorial states had their own patron deities. And we see this idea reflected probably most clearly in Deuteronomy 32, eight and nine.
