What Is Rome?

Rome predates Alexander the Great by a long ways. The Italian peninsula is forever villes away from all of the stuff that we're looking at in the Old Testament. But if you invite somebody like Rome to come in and sort out your stuff, they're not going to give back power a minute or two later. That isn't how governments work. Once they have the power, they keep it until that government falls or collapses with very few historical exceptions.
