The Rise in Autism Prevalence
Autism spectrum disorder is relatively common in the United States. Expert: We don't completely understand why there's been an increase. Diagnostic criteria have broadened, and we're just so much better at recognizing autism. Average age of diagnosis closer to five years; it takes many more visits for black children than white ones.
