Hesiod vs the Presocratics

Homer and hesiod are definitive works of not only religion, but also literature and history in the greek world. These poems are a shared culture which binds together greek civilization. Unsurprisingly, plato and aristotle often quote from both homer and hesiod,. They are happy to ascribe various sophical doctrines to these great poets. Did plato and Aristotle really not know the difference between poetry and philosophy? As we'll see in later episodes, they certainly did.
