Macare Media Buys 40 Local Papers in Texas and Oklahoma
In 2005, central Spanish owned company signed a secret agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation to erect toll roads on existing roads. When the truth came out, newspapers across the state called for heads to roll politically. Central's response was to have its Australian subsidiary make its first US newspaper buy. But they're not owned by a Spanish company. It's owned majority owned by Fairfax Media Limited in Australia and New Zealand-based media giant because of course, because they're an Australian.
