The Mycenaean Age and the Early Iron Age
When we last left Greece around 900 BC, it looked nothing like the land of glittering, populous, and wealthy cities that it would eventually become during the classical era. The early Iron Age, often called the Greek Dark Ages, were a much different time. Almost everybody in Greece lived in villages with, at most, a few hundred inhabitants. There were almost no monumental buildings in all of Greece, not even temples.
