Having a Divided Experience of a PhD Program at UVM
I think having that divided experience of an MA because we didn't have a PhD program so there was no way you could you could do that at UVM. One summer I read Haggle's phenomenology and Heidegger's being in time just as an independent study which really got us close but it also taught me how to get along with people. You can arrange for someone to take on your work if they're nice, like Walter Mac Davis who became my dissertation director. People still think about this even though he happened to know those texts but I think you could arrange to do an independent study with any professor.
