What's the Moral Case for Conscription?

We have this disconnect now between the military and civilians that is much wider than it's ever been in history. Most people don't know anybody in the military. Because there's not conscription, that means you have a very small, self selected part of society that participates. And so it almost becomes like a cast, like a military cast. Ah, i grew up around people in the military cause they had been conscripted into viatna,. So they were veterans, that kind of thing.
