Album Review - We're Not Against Them

This is a song about the futility of war and the inhumanity of killing based on empty distinctions like us versus them. On this verse they're keeping a D pedal underneath meaning there's a D in the bass but the chords move around over it. I also love how Ellen Parsons uses delay on the vocals. Even this far into the album I'm struck by its patience as the band just floats along bringing back more recorded interview audio as their interviewees discuss violence and aggression. And then Dick Perry who's saxophone has been flitting in and out for the entire run of this song finally gets a chance to shoot his shot.
