The King Sits in the Ashes
The people of Ninvay, they believe in God, and they proclaim the fast. The great and the small alike they put on sackcloth, and even the king makes dramatic moves. What that's hinting at tells us, the commentary, that the king is a representation of people who are haughty,. People who feel supreme, and we see here that this is antithetical to God.
