She goes to new york city and falls in with the goon show girls, who are all very wild. Her appetites are what they are, and she just jumps in, right in with them. And so she's writing that while she's in her fifties, laring back at herself at 19. "I wanted to write a counterpoint to all the stories that are told of girls who are promiscuous and their lives are destroyed by it"
