Case 53: The Golden State Killer (Part 6)
Casefile True Crime
The Death of Joseph d'Angelo
Joseph D'Angelo was charged with the shooting deaths of Brian and Kate Maggiore in 1978. The East area rapist was ruled out as a suspect despite clues hinting at his involvement, including a shoelace tied like a restraint found at the crime scene. Although there wasn't any DNA tying D'Angelo to the shootings, it was the only Sacramento-based crime unrestricted by the statute of limitations that he could be charged with. There was every intention to charge D'Angelo with further crimes. But the Majori murders were enough to ensure he'd remain in custody while a case was built against him.
