In 2005 i had the opportunity to go and study in south africa. I lived in what the south africans called res which are like the student dorms. This was over a decade after the fall of apartheid but still you felt like society was really really segregated. Over 10 million people died from HIV AIDS before ARVs were developed and drug companies allowed generics to be produced. The sad thing is we haven't learned the lessons there's still millions of people who die today from preventable diseases.
