What's Happening to Hot Air?

A mirage is when air above the ground is being heated by the ground, and that's actually changing how light bends through the air. So if you see a mirage on some concrete, o, a hot day, you're just seeing the ground heating up. Even though hot air rises, it doesn't have enough energy to go from the ground all the way to the tippy top of a tall mountain. The answer has to do with the peak.
