The Importance of Understanding Our Job Titles

The work that I do today is not any different than what I was doing in 2005 when my company didn't know what to call me. Part of our problem as designers is design has a connotation to it, the word design, right? And so when you say I'm a UX designer, but you're not actually designing something... That's what they associate the designer to be. In larger companies, those people that are totally ignorant of what a UX designer should or shouldn't do,. assume that you're there to make the thing pretty.
