The GPT three had chain of thought reasoning and it did mathematical problems better when it actually said to itself, think, I need to do this. This is my next step to solve the problem. Once you asked it to think in that style of thinking it was better, right? And so I imagine that's an emergent behavior. There will be other emergent behaviors that allows it to invoke those behaviors in itself to do better. Or for example, delegate that task to another cooperative agent that might actually help it.
