The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
Henrietta Lacks was a poor black woman who couldn't afford healthcare and had to travel to a hospital that would take blacks. Without her knowledge or her family's knowledge some of her cells, cancer cells were harvested. Those cells are the very first. It's called the HeLa Cell Cycle and they are used in all kinds of research. This one woman has become the means by which tons of different cures and things have been developed.
