Howe and his forces landed on staten island, a little southwest of new york city proper. Howe would have to first drive washington's forces off the heights. A nasty northeaster, sent, i suppose, by god, kept the british at the whole next day. And just like that, behind the american forward lines, between the shallying and ton's men coming up from behind, the American left had collapsed.
