The Variations of Scientific Values

Historians have usually taken scientific values, though not scientific methods, for granted. But little knowledge of history is required to suggest that the application of these values has varied markedly with time and also with the field of application. Many of these variations in value have been sociated with particular changes in scientific theory. The experience of scientists provides no philosophical justification for the values they deploy. Such justification would solve the problem of induction.
