It seems self-defeating in that not only is he getting rid of the low end of the roster, it seems like they will now have no depth. Part of the reason you don't see teams try to replace 40 people is because there generally aren't 40 people capable of playing at a high P5 level in the portal at one time. It was an issue with this program before but given that they're facing a very difficult schedule next year, I think it's very unlikely they'll walk in with 85 power five caliber scholarship players into the season. If people get hurt, this could get off the rails in a hurry.
