Freud's Theory of Jokes
Freud's idea is that lots of these jokes will be about things which are inappropriate. And his theory to the extent that Freud has theory is testable and testical is that if it's something that makes you particularly anxious, then you will find it really funny. A little bit older, find that really, really funny younger people don't. So he's got one theory on why we laugh at jokes. He's saying there's a lot more to jokes than meets the eye. His famous line is cigar is normally a cigar, but a joke is never just a joke. But anyway, yes, we get all those jokes. Emma's taking out the dirty ones and also repetition.
