Paul's Rhetorical Trap (Romans 1:18-32)

Faith Improvised

CHAPTER

One 18 32

One 18 32 has loads of res ances with a jewish text, wisdom of solomon. There are notes that are reflective of the notion that non jewish peoples are hopelessly mired in idolatry and there is no hope their salvation. And i think that this is a major reason why one 18 32 sounds so much like that text, because paul is baiting the weak and a bit obnoxious. This is not sort of a clinical analysis on paul's part of what unbelieving people are like. This is rhetorically charged. It's overstated, but yet it's kind of oversat ed.
