The author says he had to confront a tension within the imperial logic of the state. The U.S. supports Israel because it's seen to support its hegemonic aspirations, not that Israel is hijacked American foreign policy and directed its to its own ends. He also questions whether the military industrial complex is part of the deep state or just another lobbying organization.
